On 15 October, at the Teatro Brancaccio in Rome, Michele and Massimo Bernetti of the Umani Ronchi winery collected the award assigned by the Gambero Rosso Italian guide "Guida Vini d'Italia 2024" as the best Italian winery of the year.

As reported directly by Gambero Rosso:

"A cohesive company range, compact in terms of quality yet well diversified: the wide variety of choice earns Umani Ronchi the title of Winery of the Year".

An important and prestigious recognition which testifies and certifies the leading role of Umani Ronchi in the Italian wine scene, establishing itself as one of the national reference wineries. The award follows another important international recognition, obtained in 2020, when the American magazine and website Wine Spectator also elected Umani Ronchi among the Best Wineries in Italy.

The best winery in Italy, according to Gambero Rosso, is Umani Ronchi

Quality, diversification and differentiation are the key words that led Gambero Rosso experts to select Umani Ronchi as the best Italian winery.

Quality and differentiation/diversification of the crus and vineyards, distributed between the Marche and Abruzzo, where the grapes are grown, mainly from the Verdicchio (Marche) and Montepulciano (Abruzzo) vines, at the base of the Umani Ronchi wines, part of which can be purchased on our online wine sales site.

As reported in the winery profile on the Guida Vini d'Italia:

"the few spaces available in this guide fail to convey the idea of the magnificent diversity of crus that give life to the patrol of labels based on the Verdicchio grape, as well as mentioning the Montepulciano vineyards scattered between the Conero and Abruzzo".

From these crus, carefully selected and included in the 210 hectares of winery vineyards between the Verdicchio hills, the Conero and Abruzzo, true oenological pearls are born.

Again according to Gambero Rosso:

"in the well-equipped cellar, a range of wines of impressive average quality comes to life, the result of many years of work carried out by a well-established and competent technical team and far-sighted choices".

For example, among the wines mentioned there are: the Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio DOCG Classico Riserva Plenio, a very great Verdicchio from grapes grown in a very suitable vineyard, near the village of Cupramontana, in the province of Ancona, in the Marche, one of the best areas for Verdicchio; the Pelago, a sensational blend of Montepulciano, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, born in the 90s from the collaboration with the famous Italian winemaker Giacomo Tachis and recognized as the Best World Red Wine of the Year at the Wine Challenge in London in 1997; the new Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC Classico Superiore Vecchie Vigne Historical, subjected to 60 months of refinement; and the Maximo, a unique dessert wine in the regional scenario, from Sauvignon Blanc grapes affected by Botrytis Cinerea, with exclusive and truly complex aromas.

The range of Umani Ronchi wines is truly wide and of the highest quality. Discover Umani Ronchi wines for sale on Wineshop.it.

The team that works on the production of the wines is of the highest quality, led by Michele Bernetti and his father Massimo Bernetti who, with Roberto Bianchi, acquired the winery founded by Gino Umani Ronchi in Cupramontana, Ancona, in 1968. Today the winery headquarters are in Osimo, in the province of Ancona. The growth path of the winery has been impressive, characterized by a continuous process of development, innovation and modernization, in such a way as to guarantee the best possible conditions for the production of quality wines; by expansion of the structure and by the openness to international markets to enhance local wine products, so much so that, in 2015, Michele Bernetti was appointed Ambassador of the Marche wines in the world during the Milan Expo. In the meantime, Umani Ronchi is completing the process of converting its vineyards to organic, while in 2022 it obtained the Environmental, Economic and Social Sustainability Certification from Equalitas.

Other aspects, not strictly viticultural, which contributed to the Best Winery of the Year award should be highlighted. Starting from the Umani Ronchi website, extremely well-kept and detailed, updated and full of information for consumers and professionals, definitely one of the best around, up to the commitment and investments of the winery and its ownership in the wine sector hospitality.

For an infinite number of reasons, Umani Ronchi is deservedly the best Italian winery of the year!
