Salina Bianco Colosi 2022

This white wine, recognised in 1997 as a wine of "Indicazione Geografica Tipica", derives from Catarratto Inzolia grapes which are cultivated on the small island of Salina. It is a lively straw-yellow colour with a greenish reflection, and has an aroma reminiscent of spring flowers and a fresh, flavoursome and fruity taste. It is a characteristic wine, whose aroma recalls the intense fragrances of the island where it comes from. Contains sulphites. Produced by Cantine Colosi S.r.l. - Dir. Viaria C. Fraz. The producer

Colosi is a company that has been operating in the wine field for four generations. The cellar is managed by the oenologist Pietro Colosi who follows the various steps, from winemaking to refinement and from bottling to marketing the wines. For many years the company has been involved in the production of the ancient Malvasia delle Lipari wine. The company covers an area of ​​ten hectares in Salina (a small island that is part of the Aeolian archipelago) between Capo Faro and Porri. This area is recognized as one of the best on the island both for its exposure and for the chemical-physical nature of the soil which, being of volcanic origin, is particularly suitable for the cultivation of vines. The planting of the vineyard, made particularly difficult due to the morphology of the soil, was carried out in terraces restoring the old dry stone walls. The company produces other typical wines in the areas of Marsala and Salemi in western Sicily.

How to serve it

The wine should be served at 10 degrees centigrade in clear, transparent crystal goblets.

How to keep

This isn't a wine that should be aged, and should be drunk within two to three years of purchase. The bottles should be laid horizontally in a cool, dark, humid wine-cellar.
