Volpolo Podere Sapaio Magnum 2019

A great Bolgheri Doc from Tuscany, Magnum format, comes in a beautiful wooden box. It has been awarded several times by the Italian wine guides!

This wine is the result of careful hand selection of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Vedot grapes. The wine is fermented at controlled temperatures in steel vats, followed by a long maceration on the skins. It is then matured in barriques for 14 months, followed by 10 months of bottle ageing, before being released. Deep red colour, with intense notes of ripe red and black berries, and spices. Tight and racy on the palate, supported by a good acidity, with firm, clenched tannins. Contains sulphites. Produced by Sapaio - 57022, Castagneto Carducci (LI) - Italy.

The producer

The estate Podere Sapaio was founded in 1999. Its 40 hectares are spread between the Councils of Castagneto Carducci and Bibbona . Grape varieties of Bordeaux origin Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot , which in the last fifty years have imposed themselves in the area, are grown in lands of quaternary deposits. Other grape varieties are present in small quantities. There are also some hectares of land, which are part of the estate, where Frantoio, Moraiolo and Leccino cultivars of olive trees are grown.

Excellent with red meats and tasty soups, it goes well with cheese.

How to keep it

Keep in a cool and dark cellar with a constant temperature making sure that it is in a horizontal position.

How to serve it

Serve at 18 degrees centigrade in large trasparent crystal glasses.
