Tintilia is considered the grape variety more closely linked to the history and tradition of rural culture of Molise. According to recent studies the Tintilia arrived in Molise in the second half of 1700 during the Spanish domination. Its name probably comes from the word "tinto" which in Spanish means "red". At the end of 1800 was the most cultivated variety in Molise. After the second world war, unfortunately, the gradual abandonment of the vineyards almost led to its demise. Cantine Cipressi have been able to save this rare autochthonous grape variety. Tintilia Macchiarossa is made from the vinification of the grapes of the same name. It is a unique and special wine. The color is intense ruby red, lively and brilliant. At the nose spice and balsamic notes predominate, with a background of black cherries and berries. In the mouth it is soft, round and enveloping.

The producer

The Cipressi winery is located in the hills of Molise at 500 meters above sea level close to the sea: a perfect location for growing quality grapes. The owners have been active in the wine sector for three generations. In the last years they have paid special attention to the cultivation and vinification of the Tintilia grape, an ancient, autochthonous variety that had almost disappeared. Today the Cantine Cipressi is the largest grower of this rare variety that accounts for only 3% of the regional vineyards.

Best with

How to serve it

The wine should be served at 18 degrees centigrade in clear, transparent crystal goblets.
