This classic wine from Bertinoro - an area renowned for its high quality wines - was the first Italian white wine to gain D.O.C.G. - a guarantee of its exceptional quality. It is a bright straw-yellow colour with a greenish hue and has a delicate yet well-expressed and persuasive aroma with a hint of sage, lemon blossom, almond and peach. It is dry, full of flavour and character and has a distinctly bitterish finish. Contains sulphites. Produced by Fattoria Paradiso - Via Palmeggiana, 285 - 47032, Bertinoro (FC) - Italy.
The producer
La Fattoria Paradiso manages 50 hectors of vineyards on limestone-rich land - land steeped in wine-making tradition. The vineyards are situated at a medium altitude on the foothills of the Tosco-Romagnolo Apennines. They benefit from a congenial climate and the loving care that Mario Pezzi lavishes on the vines. The result of this care and attention is the best "cru" wines of the region. These wines are obtained from carefully chosen species of vines, such as Barbarossa or Pezzi, which dates back to 1955 and led to the company winning D.O.C. status. The origins of other species, such as Pagadebit and Cagnina, are long forgotten. In the early 1970s the company won further recognition for the purity and longevity of Sangiovese Vigna Lepri. Until this time the Sangiovese species of grapevine did not have a reputation for longevity - so much so that it was dubbed an Easter wine by the national press. In the summer of 1979 five thousand bottles "Lepri Vine" were stowed away. When they returned to the light in June 1985 they were greatly appreciated. Overwhelmed at the congratulations he received, Mario Pezzi claimed that the credit was due to the roses, which flower every year on the estate.
