This wine was first produced by Ca' del Bosco in 1972. Even if it could be considered the most basic of the wines produced by this company, it should not be undervalued. In its category it is without comparison. It is obtained from Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco grapes and has a clear, straw-yellow colour with a noticeable greenish reflection. It has a captivating, fresh, fragrant aroma full of numerous fruity and flowery hints, among which golden apples, pears, damsons, pineapple and a fruity, citrus note of grapefruit and lemon can be clearly distinguished. It the background, there is a beautiful sensation of lime flowers. The taste is dry, but not decisively so, well-structured, flavoursome and sustained by a well-judged level of acidity. A taste of fruit, tropical fruit above all, already promised by the aroma, is also discernible. The aftertaste leaves a pleasant sensation of slightly bitter oranges.

The producer

It all began many years ago when Maurizio Zanella, who at the time was a young man, stood in his mother's country house, which was then a genuine 'cottage in the woods or "ca' del bosco"', and overwhelmed with his passion for the Champagne decided to produce a Franciacorta that could successfully compete with France. What might have remained a young man's dream has instead become a marvellous reality. In 1968, after years of hardship, investment, experience, the steady improvement of the grapevines in the company's 97 hectares of vineyards, the introduction of technology and scientific research, Ca'del Bosco is today one of the best wine-making companies in Italy, and certainly one of the major protagonists in the renaissance of Italian wine. It is a leader in the high quality spumante sector because it was the company that first discovered the best way of expressing the qualitative potential of Franciacorta. Not content with the excellent results that they have achieved with their spumanti "metodo classico", Ca' del Bosco went on to develop still wines from international and Italian grapevines, and continue to compete on an equal footing with some of the most important wines in the world. This claim would seem presumptions were it not for the fact that Ca' del Bosco wines have received prizes and acclaim in numerous international wine tastiness. This is without counting the large number of enthusiastic reviews that the sternest wine critics in the world have showered on the company's products.

How to serve it

Serve at 15 degrees centigrade in clear, transparent crystal goblets.

How to keep

This is not a wine that should be aged, even if it has an unexpected ability improve with time, so it is recommended to drink it within a few years of purchase. The bottles should be laid horizontally in a cool, dark, humid wine-cellar.
