This great red wine comes from a careful selection of Nebbiolo grapes of the Michet , Lampia and Rosé sub-varieties. The vineyards are located in the municipality of Barolo, facing south-east and at an altitude of 320 meters above sea level . The age of the vines is 40 years old. The training system is Arbour and the pruning system is Guyot. The production is about 1 kg of grapes per vine. There are about 4000 vines per hectare. The soil is Tortonian origin with layers of blue yellow and grey marls, thanks to this soil the wines are elegant and with intense aromas . The yield per hectare is 4,000 kg of grapes . The harvest time is the second week of October. The grapes are harvested in boxes containing 20 kg. After crushing, the fermentation and the maceration start and last 15 days. After racking the wine is aged two years in barrels of 500-700 liters. The last period of aging includes a stop for 6 months in stainless steel barrels and a further 10 months in bottle. The vinification method is focused on the respect of the raw material, trying to understand each vineyard separately and strictly controlling the ripening of the grapes. The technology marries traditional methods such as to follow the moon’s phases during the work of racking and bottling. The harvest is exclusively hand-made to carefully select the best grapes . The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. The must remain in contact with skins during maceration with the aim of obtaining the best aromatic expression , elegance and harmony of flavors . The color is garnet red with ruby highlights, the bouquet is intense with notes of cinnamon and vanilla and hints of cocoa and coffee. This Barolo is full-bodied and velvety, it is pleasantly tannic and well-balanced. Contains sulphites. Produced by Bric Cenciurio Azienda agricola - Via Roma, 24 - 12060, Barolo (CN) - Italy.

The producer

Bric Cenciurio is located in the heart of the Langhe hills in the village of Barolo. I've been buying it for years and I don't intend to change this habit. I love Italian red wines and I like this in every aspect: from the aromas of cinnamon, vanilla and coffee which add to the typical hints of red fruit, up to the softness and structure it has on the palate. (Posted on 1/8/2024)
